Skin Checks

Who is Dr Jie Gu

Dr Jie Gu is highly skilled at examining skin lesions to exclude or diagnose all types of skin cancer including melanoma – also providing full body screening and treatment.  Having undertaken post graduate training in advanced dermoscopy and skin cancer diagnosis along with over 10 years experience in this field, you can trust you will be in good hands.

What to expect when I visit for a skin check?

Skin consultation visits will usually require a longer consultation between 30-40 minutes.  Full body screening may require additional time.  Our reception staff will ask you to fill in a registration form before seeing the doctor.  Dr Gu will take a full medical and family history before performing the skin check.

When assessing any moles or spots Dr Gu uses a special instrument called a dermatoscope to check all the features of pigmented and other suspicious skin lesions. A dermatoscope allows for better viewing and assessment of the pigment and blood vessels within the lesion, which is critical in the diagnosis of skin cancer.

What happens if Dr Gu suspects a skin cancer?

Any suspect looking lesions can be sent for a biopsy. With our well- equipped treatment room, the care of Dr Gu and experienced Registered Nurses, we are able to perform procedures here at the centre.

You may require a follow up appointment to discuss any results from procedures or tests performed.
