Dr Monica De Sousa
General Practitioner
I graduated from Monash University in 2008 and completed my early hospital training at Monash Medical Centre and Dandenong Hospital before going on to complete a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. After completing my Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners I moved to northern New South Wales where I enjoyed a ‘tree-change’ and worked as a rural GP in the small town of Bellingen.
Later, I returned to my hometown of Melbourne to continue my work as a GP, and I am currently completing a Masters in Public Health at The University of Melbourne.
I enjoy the variety of presentations in general practice, where no two days are alike.
I have an interest in women’s and children’s health, mental health and preventative health care.
I perform pre-employment medicals and general health checks. I can provide contraceptive advice and am certified to insert Implanon.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and practising yoga, and I am the vice captain of a fantastic touch-football team!"
